| Welcome to the **30th issue** of Software Testing Weekly!I listened to this very interesting [podcast about VW's software "bug"](http://www.investigatingsoftware.co.uk/2020/07/podcast-vw-dieselgate-and-33bn-bug.html?utm%5Fcampaign=Software%2BTesting%2BWeekly&utm%5Fsource=Software%5FTesting%5FWeekly%5F30) (or rather a sinister feature) that cost the company a whopping **$33bn**. What I found even more interesting is how a group of testers discovered the problem. Moreover, I was really impressed by how well prepared the episode was by [Pete Houghton](https://twitter.com/pete%5Fhoughton?utm%5Fcampaign=Software%2BTesting%2BWeekly&utm%5Fsource=Software%5FTesting%5FWeekly%5F30). I feel like I'll become a more frequent listener!**PS.** I'm very excited to announce that I've decided to be transparent about running Software Testing Weekly, sharing the story of growing this project as I go. You can [follow my updates](https://www.indiehackers.com/product/software-testing-weekly?utm%5Fcampaign=Software%2BTesting%2BWeekly&utm%5Fsource=Software%5FTesting%5FWeekly%5F30) on IndieHackers platform and I'll be soon releasing a blog post about what I've learned so far. Hope you'll enjoy it! 😊*[Dawid Dylowicz](https://twitter.com/ddylowicz?utm%5Fcampaign=Software%2BTesting%2BWeekly&utm%5Fsource=Software%5FTesting%5FWeekly%5F30)* |

And if you are applying test cases, please don’t count them. And if you count them, please don’t believe that the count means anything.*In another brilliant post of the series, [Michael Bolton](https://twitter.com/michaelbolton?utm%5Fcampaign=Software%2BTesting%2BWeekly&utm%5Fsource=Software%5FTesting%5FWeekly%5F30) continues to explain why the number of test cases is not a good metric for measuring quality.Hungry for more? [Maaike Brinkhof](https://twitter.com/Maaikees?utm%5Fcampaign=Software%2BTesting%2BWeekly&utm%5Fsource=Software%5FTesting%5FWeekly%5F30) has spent 10 years in testing and decided to share 10 lessons she learned during that time.
